I saw a church sign this week that I liked. It read: “We celebrate Easter 52 times a year.” That’s one way that things changed when Jesus rose from the dead. We worship our risen Lord every time we get together, and we worship on Sunday because that’s when He rose! The Old Testament spoke in mysterious whispers about life after death, and not very often, at that. But when Jesus rose, that all changed. The New Testament is filled with the blessed hope of an eternal future with our Savior. The Gospels and the Epistles practically shout the news from the housetops – Jesus is alive! The gloom of death and a sealed tomb was followed by the bright dawn of a new day, an empty tomb and the promise of eternal life. Hallelujah! He is risen!
