Have you noticed that life is a series of decisions? When you become a Christian, that doesn’t change. Where will I go to church? How will I serve the Lord there? Am I ready to step into a leadership role? How do I balance my work, family and church? Decisions, decisions. Often those decisions come down to the best choice between two good options. How do I know what to do? Consider these thoughts gleaned from Solomon’s advice:

1. Pray. Put the decision before the Lord. Only one Person will always know what’s best. Be sure to bathe your decisions in prayer. (Proverbs 3:5-6; 16:9)

2. As you pray, read God’s Word. God will often reveal His will through His Word. (Proverbs 23:12)

3. Get good counsel. God uses His people to help His children know His will. (Proverbs 11:14; 12:15; 13:20; 15:22)

4. Listen. Don’t be in a hurry to make your decision. S-L-O-W D-O-W-N. Allow God to speak to your heart. (Proverbs 18:13)

5. Make a list. Consider the pros and cons of your decision. Give weight to the more important items on the list. Be sure to be honest in your evaluation. (Proverbs 4:26)
