FAMOUS LAST WORDS
Not everyone gets a chance to utter memorable last words. Those that do sometimes say something funny, sometimes profound, sometimes unexpected, but often interesting. The contrast between those who consciously rejected Christ and those who loved and served Him is often telling. Karl Marx, a man who despised Christ and worshipped government angrily shouted, “Go on, get out! Last words are for fools who haven’t said enough.” By way of contrast, notice the joy and love expressed by John Knox as death overtook him. “Come, Lord Jesus, sweet Jesus! Into Your hands I commend my spirit.” What a difference Christ makes in life and in death.
