Our theme for 2020 is “Growing Strong Together.” When I think of that theme, several pictures come to mind – the picture of a group of young men who meet at the first practice of the year and bond together as a team – sort of a “Remember the Titans” scenario. I think of a stand of Aspens – a grove of trees that is, in reality, one tree – a grove that may be damaged by the storms but is almost impossible to kill. I think of a platoon of soldiers who never knew each other prior to basic training, who eventually bond into a unit, the members of which are willing to die for each other on the field of battle. And I think of a church, a group of people from all walks of life, meeting together, serving together, caring for one another, reaching out to the lost – growing up as followers of the living God…together. That’s what we are, and that’s what we’re supposed to be. We are not merely individuals who arrive at the same place at the same time once a week. We are a body and God designed us to grow strong together. Over the next several months, we will examine what makes us strong and how we can be the healthy church God has in mind.
