We live in a state of relative freedom from persecution. No one will come knocking at our church door this morning to arrest the pastor, drag everyone out of the building and burn it down. However, many of our brothers and sisters in Christ – fellow believers – wake up each morning in the knowledge that they are in imminent danger simply because they are Christians. It may be the government under which they live that persecutes them (like China). It may be an anti-Christian group in the country (like Boko Haram in Nigeria). It may even be a neighbor or a family member that betrays them. All kinds of dangerous scenarios exist. We are reminded today to pray for our brothers and sisters in Christ. We are family…and they are in constant danger. Pray that God will protect them and use them to spread the Gospel in spite of the danger.
