The days immediately after the Crucifixion and Resurrection must have been a train wreck of ideas and thoughts for the disciples. “Why didn’t we see this coming?” “What else did we miss?” “What’s Jesus going to do now?” “What does He want us to do now?” “Should we go home? Should we stay here? Should we keep hiding? Should we go to the Temple?”

“Now what?”
God had a plan in mind: Jesus would stay on earth for 40 days, demonstrating that He was, in fact, alive, after which He would ascend to Heaven. Fifty days later the Holy Spirit would come upon the assembled disciples, the church would be born and God would take us all in a new direction. We can look back and see that now, but in those first few days after Resurrection Sunday, none of that was clear to the disciples. They only knew that Jesus was alive and God was doing something amazing.Often, we can’t see into the future very well. It may all be a hazy swirl ofconfusion. But God knows. God sees it all clearly and He has a plan. We can rest assured that He has it under control.
