The Psalms – Israel’s songs of worship – are filled with references to the coming Messiah. Psalm 2, 24, 110 and others are powerful prophetic testimony to the coming Messiah and they bear witness of Jesus. I recently read Psalm 110 again – one of the most directly focused Messianic Psalms. It speaks of a conversation between Jehovah (“The LORD”) and the Messiah (“my Lord”), the position of the Messiah at the right hand of the Father, the eventual victory of the Messiah over His foes and His reign, His priesthood after the order of Melchizedek, and the judgment He will execute someday. Jesus used the Psalm in reference to Himself to confound the scribes and Pharisees (Matt. 22, Mark 12 and Luke 20), and Peter preached about Jesus from it in Acts 2. The Old Testament Scriptures are amazing in their prediction of our Savior.
